Nature: Traffic Collision – 3rd Alarm in District - Hollymount Road & John J. Williams Highway

On Friday afternoon, February 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a third incident within the district and it was a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Hollymount Road. The Lewes (82) Fire Department was alerted to assist with the incident.  It was reported to be two vehicles (car versus truck) with three occupants wishing to be evaluated.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   Additional emergency alerts included EMS units from the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, notification of the appropriate utility service provider for utility pole evaluation, and traffic control.

It appears that a maroon Mazda SUV and a white Dodge RAM truck with construction utility trailer and apparatus collided on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Hollymount Road with one vehicle impacting the utility pole.  Both vehicles suffered damage and multiple occupants were evaluated for possible transport to nearby emergency medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Felton Driver Cited after Crash on Route 24 Near Angola - February 10, 2024/Mari Lou

A Felton man has been cited after he collided with a Mazda in the intersection at Route 24 and Hollymount Road in Angola just before 1pm Friday. Delaware State Police tell the Talk of Delmarva that the 21 year old man from Felton was westbound in a truck on Route 24 and approaching the intersection. When the light changed to red, the Mazda proceeded into the intersection and collided with the truck. Both the 62 year old driver of the Mazda from Lewes and a 65 year old female passenger were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck was cited for disregarding the red light.
