Nature: Traffic Collision w/Injuries – 2^nd Alarm in District – Long Neck Road

On Friday afternoon, February 9^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a second incident within the district and it was a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Cove Drive.   It was reported to be two vehicles and one utility pole involved in the incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   Additional emergency alerts included EMS units from the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and Millsboro EMS.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, notification of the appropriate utility service provider for utility pole evaluation, and traffic control.

It appears that a black Toyota RAV-4 and a silver Nissan SUV collided on Long Neck Road near Cove Drive with one vehicle tapping the utility pole.  Both vehicles suffered damage and both occupants were evaluated for possible transport to nearby emergency medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
