Nature: Elevator/Escalator Rescue

Location: 34024 Harvard Av Carillon Woods, DE 19966

 

On Thursday morning, January 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an elevator rescue incident on Harvard Avenue in the Carillon Woods complex off Indian Mission Road.  It was reported to be a single occupant stuck in the elevator between second and third floors.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident evaluation and assistance with extrication.  The process included securing the power to the elevator, securing the elevator, gaining access to the elevator shaft and elevator car with constant communication with the occupant.  The complex maintenance personnel were available for assistance.

The occupant was removed from the elevator car and the maintenance personnel were notified to contact the elevator service personnel.

There were no injuries associated with the incident.
