Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

On Thursday evening, December 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic crash notification in the vicinity Riverside Plaza Apartments/Royal Farms on John J. Williams Highway.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  First arriving EMS units identified this incident to be a property damage vehicle accident with no injuries to vehicle occupants.

Emergency response crew assignments included fluid and debris clean up where needed assistance with traffic control and incident mitigation efforts.

The Automatic Crash Detection electronic feature is designed to detect car crashes.  When a crash is detected, your iPhone or Apple Watch sounds an alarm and displays an alert1 which may also notify the nearest emergency operations 9-1-1 center.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
