Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 32112 Robin Hoods Loop Sherwood Forest, DE 19966

 

On Friday morning, December 1st, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), Millsboro (83), and Milton (85) fire companies were alerted for a working structure on Robin Hoods Loop in the Sherwood Forest development.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Fire Police to the incident location.  The Dagsboro (73) fire company was alerted to provide a standby crew assignment for Indian River.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Chief 80-15, Engines #80-1, #80-3 and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, water supply establishments, fire police for scene access limitation and traffic control, primary search, interior fire suppression, ventilation, and other incident mitigation activities.

Chief 80-15 identified heavy smoke in the area from the Long Neck Station. Initial arriving emergency response units identified a house and car fully involved with heavy fire showing with exposure concerns.  The vehicle involved was parked next to the garage with a ruptured fuel tank.  Initial arriving apparatus were requested to activate fire suppression lines to address the vehicle and residential structure as well as protection of exposures.  Incoming apparatus from Millsboro, Lewes, and Milton to assist with fire suppression, water supply activities and establishment of manpower pool.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access concerns.

The Emergency Medical Services provided initial assistance to the residential occupants.

Assistance is being coordinated via neighbors for the displaced residents.

The Delaware State Fire Marshals are investigating.
