Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1

Location: Holts Landing Boat Ramp (84)

Coordinates:  38°35'34 and 75°7'33 Millville,

On Monday October 30th, 2023 at 1226 hours the Indian River (80), Bethany Beach (70), and Dagsboro (73) fire companies were alerted to assist the Millville (84) Volunteer Fire Company with a water rescue near Holts Landing State Park north of Millville.

The initial report indicated a male subject in the water having trouble getting back into his boat approximately 2000 feet from the dock.  Units arrived to find that the male subject was able to get back into his boat himself and was no longer in distress.  The boat was escorted back to the dock by the crew of Marine 84.  Upon arrival at the dock the male subject refused medical evaluation.

Units cleared the scene shortly thereafter and Indian River units were cancelled while enroute.

Additional emergency dispatching included mutual aid entities such as the Delaware State Police Aviation – Trooper 2, the Sussex County Paramedics, DNREC Marine Police, and the United States Coast Guard - Indian River Squadron.
