On Thursday evening, October 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad with a medical emergency and establish a landing zone for the incoming aviation unit – Delaware State Police Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck Facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignment called for the landing zone to be established at Indian River Station #2 off Banks Road.

The Sussex County Paramedics in coordination with the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad transported the patient from the incident location to landing zone location for the loading onto the aviation unit. The patient was transported to medical facilities in New Castle County to better accommodate their respective condition.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the roadway assignment with Banks Road.
