Nature: Fried Chicken Dinner

On Saturday, September 23rd, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in conjunction with Debbie Swithenbank, owner and operator of Holiday Chicken hosted a fried chicken dinner at our Station #1 facility.

Please allow the Ladies Auxiliary and the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company to offer our apologizes for the length of line awaiting to get in as well as the wait to get served.  There was a standing line around the front of the building and more than half way down the side of the building for the entire serving time.  We would like to thank each and every patron for their patience, polite and pleasant personality.  Thank you for your patronage. 

This was our second attempt at offering the Fried Chicken dinner and we made some adjustments including ordering additional fryers that have not been installed and based upon the line of potential customers around the facility was every indication of the community demand for these chicken entrees continues to be overwhelming.

The pick-up / drive thru phase commenced at approximately 2:30 p.m. with a line forming at 1:30 p. and closed at 4 p.

The dine-in phase commenced at approximately 4:30 p.m. with a line forming at 4 p. and closed at 6:30 p.m.

 We would like to thank each and every patron for their patience, polite and pleasant personality.  Thank you for your patronage.

The fried chicken dinner included mashed potatoes, coleslaw, beets, green beans, bread and butter and dessert.  The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company will continue to enhance and adjust these dinner events to best accommodate the demand.  There were approximately 224 dinners served with approximately 896 pieces of chicken prepared.
