Nature: Structure Fire

Location: Hydrant @ 31141 Widgeon Path

Address:  31152 Widgeon Path. Peninsula Lakes, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, July 23^rd, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire departments were alerted for a residential structure fire on Widgeon Path in the Peninsula Lakes development off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported via the emergency operations center, that the whole house was full of smoke, male subject was an amputee and attempting to get out and another male subject was upstairs but able to get out of the residential structure. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, Brush 80-0 from the previous incident in Long Neck and Utility 80-11 with Polaris 80  responding to Station #2 to obtain Engine #80-1 for an emergency response.  Additional emergency response units included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units arrived and performed an immediate external evaluation of the residential structure identifying the location of the utilities, no basement, and no changes from the initial dispatching report.  It was immediately identified to be a culinary mishap with Engine #80-3 and Tower 80 on scene and all other responding apparatus cancelled.

Units assisted the residential occupants with ventilation and returned to their respective quarters.
