On Friday afternoon, July 7th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted for a commercial structure fire at the Weis Market in the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Fire Police.  It was reported to fire in the rear of the store near the freezer area.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines 80-3 and 80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Other responding units from Lewes included 82-8, 82-1, 82-2, and 82-3 and Millsboro units being Ladder 83 and Engine 83-1.

Emergency response crew assignments included apparatus placement assignments for aerial units, evacuation of the commercial storage, evaluation and investigation of the interior and exterior structures, and incident mitigation.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
