Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Long Neck Rd and Pot Nets Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Monday evening, July 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near the sharp curves.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and 80 Command from a prearranged standby assignment in Baywood Greens, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included assistance with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control with road closure assignments, and incident mitigation.

It appears that a Ford pick up was traveling on Long Neck Road and failed to successfully navigate the sharp curve before striking a tree causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close Long Neck Road for the duration of the incident.  All traffic was detoured via Pot Nets Bayside.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

DUI driver crashes into tree on Long Neck Road

LONG NECK, Del. - A 33-year-old Milford man was charged with DUI after he drove into a tree on Long Neck Road Monday night around 8:45 p.m.

According to Delaware State Police, the man was driving a pickup truck around a curve on Long Neck Road near Pot Nets when he went off the road. His truck continued until it hit a tree.

The man was taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries. In addition to DUI, he received charges including not having insurance or registration in possession and failing to stay on the road.

Long Neck Road was shut down for about one hour and traffic was redirected by Delaware State Fire Police.
