Nature: Appliance Fire

On Wednesday, June 7^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an appliance fire at the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard-Riverdale.  It was reported to be an appliance fire in the kitchen area.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included incident evaluation and investigation, positive pressure ventilation for smoke eradication, check for extensions, and notification of the state fire marshal.

It appears that a construction contractor was working in the kitchen area modifying newly installed cabinetry when something was set upon the range which ultimately caught fire.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
