Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 31096 River Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, May 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on River Road in the vicinity of Apache Avenue, Warwick Park.  It was reported to be a single vehicle into a utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Incident Command 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts included traffic control and fluid and debris recovery, notification of utility pole identifications to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center for notification the respective utility service provider.  The power may interrupted throughout the day in order to restore the utility pole.

It appears that red Chevrolet Silverado pick up was traveling on River Road and struck a utility pole for an unknown reason.  The utility pole was snapped and would require complete replacement.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
