Nature: Structural Firefighter Training Evolutions

Location: Delaware State Fire School – Georgetown Campus

Address: Park Avenue, Georgetown

On Wednesday, April 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company held its regular monthly training and drill exercises at the Delaware State Fire School – Georgetown Campus.

The main topics of discussion and hands-on instruction were for structural firefighting skills which is the second phase of the Fire School’s Sequential Training Program.  This curriculum is designed to enhance the student’s knowledge, skills, and abilities to become a firefighter and operate as a member of a firefighting team in a structural firefighting situation.

The course attempts to teach the student basic skills and knowledge in Search & Rescue, Firefighter Safety & Survival, Methods of Fire Attack, Ventilation, and Overhaul are some of the topics illustrated during these procedures.  Apparatus operators refined their respective pump operation skills and abilities as well.

Illustrated herewith are various photographs of the evening’s activities.
