Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Tuesday evening, February 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of the Crab Barn To Go.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with unknown status of vehicle occupants.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency response alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery. 

It appears that a blue Jeep and a silver Chevrolet Equinox collided on Long Neck Road causing damage to both vehicles.  This section of Long Neck Road was closed for the duration of the incident causing a significant traffic backlog concern.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
