On Thursday evening, December 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic alarm sounding at a multi-residential structure on Lowell Avenue in Carillon Woods near Long Neck.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews found an active audio and visual alarm with a significant water flow presence from the second floor of the residential apartment building.  Emergency response crews worked to silence the alarm and shut off the fire suppression system after it was determined to be broken fire suppression system pipe in a second floor storage room.

All emergency responders were able to mitigate the water flow and alarms; however, the water restoration and system replenishment was turned over to the facility management firm for further corrective action.

The residents and facility management firm was notified that the fire suppression system was deactivated pending corrective action by their chosen repair contractor.

All responding apparatus was permitted to return to their respective facilities.
