Nature: Chimney Fire

Location: 28464 Cherokee Av., Riverdale Beach, DE 19966

On Saturday, December 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a chimney fire on Cherokee Avenue in Riverdale Park.

Emergency response units from Indian River included the Incident Command Unit and Engines #80-1 & 80-3 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments laddering the roof for evaluation and inspection.  It was reported to extinguished by the homeowner prior to arrival of any emergency response units.

It appears that the property owners noticed smoke coming from around the chimney and suspected a potential fire and alerted emergency first responders.  The crews performed an external inspection of the chimney and laddered the roof clear some of the pine needles and leaves.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
