Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: 28106 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Friday morning, December 23rd, the Indian River (80) and Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a reported head on vehicle accident with entrapment on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Warwick Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, vehicle extrication on the Hyundai, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, as well as overall incident mitigation. Assistance from the Millsboro Fire Company was utilized based upon the nature of the incident with confirmed entrapment.

It appears that a silver Hyundai compact car and a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee collided head-on near Warwick Road on John J. Williams Highway for an unknown reason causing the closure of the roadway for an extended period of time.  The occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
