Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 25393 Fishermans Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Fishermans Road off Indian Mission Road.  It was reported to be a working structure fire with smoke and heavy fire showing with reports of all occupants out of the structure however pets may not be out.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 & 80-3 and Brush 80-00 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression lines to the structure, open the roof for ventilation, establish a water supply and have all available resources report to the manpower pool.  The electrical utility services were disconnected.  Initial fire suppression attack lines included two 1¾” lines were placed in service with two additional lines be activated upon arrival of other manpower resources.

Initial arriving first responder units identified smoke and heavy fire with a working manufactured home incident.  All occupants were confirmed to be out of the structure.  It appears that a modified single wide manufactured home was fully involved with significant fire resulting in a complete loss of everything.

The utility service providers were requested to the incident location to secure the termination of all commodities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.

The American Red Cross has been contacted for a pending response for the displaced family members.  A total of three adults and one child were displaced as a result of the incident.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries; however, some of the family feline pets perished.
