Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 32572 River Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday, August 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on River Road near Cerulean Lane.  It was reported to be a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization where needed, traffic control with the closure of River Road at Oak Orchard Road, establishment of landing zone for incoming aviation, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a Ford Explorer SUV and Harley Davidson motorcycle collided at River Road and Cerulean Lane in Oak Orchard.  The motorcyclist was prepped for transportation at the incident location and then transported to the awaiting aviation unit at the Community Church of Oak Orchard.  The injured cyclist was transported to Christiana Hospital in New Castle County.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close this segment of River Road for the duration of the incident. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
