Nature: Outside Fire

Location: 30008 Johnson Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, March 31st, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Georgetown (77) fire companies were alerted for a brush fire on Johnson Road off of Bulls Eye Road. It was reported by numerous passing motorists of an outside fire that was creating a concern.

Emergency response units include Brush #80-00 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility; Brush #80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included the fire suppression and saturation of the impact areas as well as preservation of an inappropriate outside burn concern.

It appears that a residential property was attempting to burn a pile of debris that quick got out of hand upon ignition as a result of the windy conditions. The fire quickly spread to nearby brush and grass.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was quickly assisted with the resources of Asplundh Tree Expert Company that was working in the area. With their assistance, the fire was quickly knocked down prior to arrival of emergency apparatus.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources was contacted a resolve of the improper burn activity.
