Saturday February, 7 2015 @ 20:21 Nature: Structure Fire Location: Pavilion in the Rehoboth Shores development Address: 26225 Bay Blvd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday evening, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire on Bay Boulevard in the Rehoboth Shores development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a working structure. Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-3 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility. The Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Fire Marshall’s office also responded to the incident. Emergency crew assignments include fire suppression measures as well as scene preservation, water resource management and traffic control. It appears that the pavilion within the Rehoboth Shores development caught fire and was totally destroyed as a result of the incident. Various witness reports have insinuated numerous suspicious persons within the vicinity at the time of the incident. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was also assigned to evaluate ancillary complaints regarding embers and debris being blown into nearby residential properties. Engine #80-3 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire with the pavilion being fully involved. An immediate activation of two fire suppression hose lines were placed in-service. The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire at Rehoboth Shores off Long Neck Road last night. The call came in just before 8:30 and Indian River Fire Crews found the Pavilion fully involved in fire. Information brought forth by witnesses helped with the Feb. 23 arrest, said Harry Miller, chief deputy state fire marshal. The fire was reported at 8:20 p.m. at a pavilion in Rehoboth Shores Mobile Home Park; it caused $25,000 in damage to the 50-by-40-foot wooden structure, Miller said. The teen resides in the mobile home park and was charged with one count of third-degree arson. According to state statute, third-degree arson is when a person recklessly damages a building by intentionally starting a fire or causing an explosion; no person other than the accused had a possessory or proprietary interest in the building. The teen was released to a relative on $2,000 unsecured bond, pending arraignment at a later date in Family Court.
