Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday morning, February 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection accessing Giant Foods. It was reported to be a two vehicle, read end collision type incident.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control and overall scene assessment.

It appears that a white Ford compact car was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and failed to stop at the traffic light striking the Chevrolet pick-up. Both vehicle sustained damage and contributing to the debris field at the intersection.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
