Story

IR Ladies Auxiliary Recognized for 60 years of service

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was formed in 1954, one year after the formation of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. The Auxiliary's mission, for the most part is the same today as it was in 1954; to lend assistance and support to the fire company and fire district when requested; to provide support to the fire company families during times of need; to provide assistance to the community of Oak Orchard-Long Neck during disasters; and to support local fire-related charitable and civic causes.

Thankfully, the Ladies Auxiliary of Indian River is always there to support the fire company’s functions, events, incidents, and drills by providing a quick-bite or a hot meal to the firefighters, their families, and guests. Some of these events have included, but are certainly not limited to:

• Open House for Fire Prevention;

• Reception dinner for volunteer firefighter and chief’s association meetings;

• BINGOs;

• Breakfast and dinner events; and

• Services honoring deceased firefighters and ladies auxiliary members.

As mentioned, the Ladies Auxiliary is always quick to respond to the fire company's requests for assistance.

At this time, we share our appreciation with all members of the Ladies Auxiliary and allow us to recognize you and thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Identified herewith is an illustration of the ladies auxiliary member roster:
