Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 28706 Reid Lane Harbeson, DE 19951

On Thursday morning, June 16^th, the Indian River (80), Milton (85), and Georgetown (77) fire companies were alerted to assist the Millsboro (83) Volunteer Fire Company with a residential structure fire on Reid Lane outside of Harbeson.  Additional emergency alerts included the Delaware State Fire Marshal and the Sussex County Paramedics as well as the Millsboro Emergency Medical Services unit.  It was reported to be a working incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-3 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included initial fire suppression activities, establishment of water supply to the initial arriving engine and securing a large diameter hose (5”) from Harbeson Road down the private lane to Tanker 80.  This was coordinated with the arriving units from Millsboro.  Other apparatus from Millsboro, Georgetown, Milton and Indian River coordinated water supply shuttles from nearby hydrants.

Additionally, many other mutual aid companies were alerted to backfill the fire stations that were utilized to participate in the fire ground operations off Harbeson Road.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of Harbeson for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
