Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Banks Rd & Shady Ln Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, December 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road in the vicinity of Shady Lane. It was reported to be a single vehicle that struck a utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Incident Command 80, Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response vehicles were cancelled while responding to the incident. The Delaware State Police provided information that a utility pole was struck and the vehicle was located in a residential front yard off of the roadway and there was not a need for fire company response.

It appears that a blue Honda compact car was traveling east on Banks Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking and severing a utility pole.

Shortly, thereafter the Delaware Fire Police were requested for traffic control.

The Delaware Electric Cooperative was to close this section of Banks Road between Shady Lane and Shawn’s Hide-a-way for the duration of the utility pole replacement efforts.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
