Nature: Chimney Fire

Location: 464 Woodside Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, December 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported chimney fire incident at 464 Woodside Road in the Winding Creek development.

Emergency response units included Incident Command 80, Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, as well as Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response assignments included incident mitigation with an interior and exterior evaluation of the chimney, chimney flue, attic area ventilation, and overall inspection.

It was determined that the chimney contained a bird’s nest that was located in the chimney flue.

Corrective action and evaluation was completed and the homeowner was notified of the issue.
