Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Silicato Dr and Indian Mission Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday, May 31^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road at Silicato Drive.  It was reported to have entrapment involved with the two-vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Millsboro EMS, and the Delaware State Police – Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, incident mitigation, vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization.  It was immediately identified that patient entrapment was not present.

It appears that maroon Jeep Compass and a silver Ford passenger van collided at the intersection causing airbag deployment in both vehicles with occupant mobility limited for the Jeep Compass because of side impact conditions.  The vehicle occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.  The aviation unit was cancelled and not needed.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the incident with this segment of Indian Mission Road for the duration. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
