Landing Zone Assignment:  Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp

 

On Monday, May 23rd at approximately 11:18, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to establish a landing zone for the Delaware State Police Aviation unit - Trooper 2.

The Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics were originally alerted for a patient that suffered a traumatic eye injury and responding first responders requested the aviation unit.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included securing an area within the parking lot of Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp while the Delaware State Fire Police and Utility 80-11 coordinated the closure of Long Neck Road to prohibit access to the public parking lot.

The Delaware State Police Aviation unit landed and transported the injured person to a trauma facility in New Castle County for their respective injury.

All units were permitted to return to their respective facilities after the departure of the aviation unit.
