Nature: Washdown (Fuel Spill)

Location: Streets Rd & John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, October 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for wash down as the result of spilled oil petroleum products onto the roadway surface. It was reported to the near Streets Road and John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments were to locate, evaluate, and mitigate the mishap.

The specific incident location was amended multiple times basis 9-1-1 calls by passing motorist with the location being eastbound traffic lanes of John J. Williams Highway between Layton Davis Road and Oak Orchard Road.

The Delaware State Fire Police reduced the traffics patterns to one lane pending arrival of the Delaware Department of Transportation to mitigate the incident.

It was observed to be an oil spill in the center of the roadway that was being transversed approximately 400- 500 years east on John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware Department of Transportation mitigated the incident absorbents and street sweepers upon their arrival.
