Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 36123 Henderson Dr., Port Delmarva, DE 19971

On Monday, March 14th, the Indian River (80) and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted to assist Rehoboth Beach (86) with a structure fire on Henderson Drive in the Port Delmarva development off Old Landing Road.  It was reported that multiple calls were received and possibility a working alarm.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional resources were dispatched to include the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response unit assignments were changed to reflect Engine #80-3 providing a standby cover up assignment at Rehoboth Beach Station #2 and Tanker 80 was to proceed to the incident location.  Emergency response units from Rehoboth Beach and Lewes remained on location for to provide fire suppression services.

It appears that a Jayco type travel trailer which was converted to a permanent type RV caught fire in the Port Delmarva development with exposure concerns to nearby neighboring units, vehicle, and storage shed as well as two civilian injuries that were transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
