Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 25063 Banks Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Sunday morning, September 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road in the vicinity of the Guinea Creek Bridge. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree with unknown occupant information or injuries.

Emergency response crews included Rescue 80 and Incident Command 80 from the Oak Orchard area, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included vehicle stabilization, evaluation to identify potential location of vehicle occupant in the marshy areas, traffic control, and overall scene mitigation.

It appears that a Dodge 1500 Pick Up was traveling east on Banks Road and failed to remain on the roadway after crossing the bridge; thereby, striking trees and running into the marshy area. The occupants of the vehicle had departed the accident scene prior to arrival of emergency response apparatus.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated restricted traffic patterns for the duration of the call.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
