Nature: Field Fire

Location: 31166 Wilson Myrtle Lane Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday, February 27^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a field fire on Wilson Myrtle Lane off Layton Davis Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities to mitigate the vegetation fire that was the result of inappropriate burning.

It appears that the property occupants were burning materials inappropriately when the fire got out of control causing the field fire.   Brush 80-0 was able to quickly suppress the vegetation fire the engine and tanker crews addressed the inappropriate burn area to suppression activities.  The property occupants were apprised of the proper burn procedures and what was inappropriate burning materials.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic for the duration of the incident.
