Nature: Vegetation Fire Upgraded to Structure Fire

Location: 23609 Pine Lake Dr., Pine Lake, DE 19947

On Friday, February 11^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Millsboro (83) and Georgetown (77) with a vegetation (brush) fire on Pine Lake Drive off Avalon Road.  This incident was upgraded to a structure fire resulting from the spreading vegetation fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility, Utility 80-11 with Polaris 80 as well as Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. 

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with fire suppression for the vegetation fire and water supply assistance with the Tanker 80.  A water shuttle operation was established for apparatus from Millsboro and Georgetown at the Delaware State Fire School (DSFS) grounds on Park Avenue near Georgetown.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Avalon Road in specific segment near the fire ground.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
