Nature: Structure Fire

On Tuesday afternoon, February 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at Weis Market on John J. Williams Highway.  It was reported that store was filling with smoke at the rear of the building.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engines #80-1 & #80-3 and Chief 815 from the Long Neck and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included Engine #80-3 to the rear of the structure and initiate an evaluation, Tower 80 to the front of the structure and prepare for set-up, Engine #80-1 at the hydrant as you turn into the commercial complex from Indian Mission Road.  Chief 80-15 coordinated the task assignments and crews before determining that the issue was associated with the air handling unit at the rear of the building.  Tower 80 crew was assigned to evaluate the air handling units on top of the facility.  The commercial occupant was advised to coordinate repair efforts with their respective contractor.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

All units were authorized to clear up upon return of their respective crew members.
