Nature: Structure Fire

Location: Across From This Address
27054 William Street Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, July 27th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a structure on William Street Road just north of the Cordrey Road intersection.  It was reported to be a trailer fire.  Initial arriving fire police units identified a working trailer fire with heavy fire showing.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-3 and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility; Chief 80-15; Delaware State Fire Police; emergency medical services from Millsboro and Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response assignments included initial activation of a 1¾” fire suppression attack line from the cross lay sections of Engine #80-1.  The next arriving truck from Millsboro Fire Company provided additional water resources, manpower resources, and activated an additional 1¾” fire suppression attack line from the cross lay section.  Efforts to ventilate the structure were initiated as well.  Apparatus units from Lewes Fire Department were redirected to provide a cover up assignment for Indian River.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control operations because William Street Road was closed for the duration between Cordrey Road and Maryland Camp Road.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.

The family canine did perish in the incident.  There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries.
