On Friday evening, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fuel leak in the Pot Nets Seaside development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a vessel leaking petroleum products.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-3, Incident Command 80, and Brush #80-0 with 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility, as well as Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility. Additional resources were needed from the Millsboro Fire Company with Hazard Material Unit (Haz Mat 83) and the DNREC Environmental Control unit.

Emergency response assignments included efforts to identify and mitigate the leak which was identified as leaking directly into the waterway lagoon. These efforts included installation of absorbent booms and dykes to contain the leakage as well as limiting the marine traffic.

The Delaware State Fire Police were utilized to provide limited perimeter access.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environment Control (DNREC) Units investigating and overseeing the clean-up efforts.
