Maintaining clearing hydrants and house numbers during inclement weather…

It's a simple message and reminder, but one that is really important to firefighters on the front lines battling fires during winter’s inclement weather.

A critical aspect of snow removal during a storm is clearing away fire hydrants and street address numbers. Taking a few extra minutes to help the first responders with this effort will enable all responders to find the correct location of an emergency call if needed.

While shoveling your driveways and sidewalks, please remember to clear snow away from any fire hydrants in front of your homes or businesses. Make sure your street address is visible wherever it is posted. Snow may cover your mailbox or your address on your home or business. These few extra minutes may just save someone's life.

If there's a fire hydrant near your house, do your part and keep it accessible during this inclement weather.

Thank you!
