Nature: Vehicle Accident – Standby Assistance – Wilmington Manor

Location: South DuPont Highway

Early Sunday morning, December 12, 2021, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided a designated standby crew to permit the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company to coordinate and conduct their Annual Firefighter Appreciation Banquet to recognize their own.  These assignments included a fully staffed aerial (tower) truck and rescue assignment with personnel from Indian River, a fully staffed ambulance crew from Delaware City.

One of the incident response alerts included a vehicle accident on South DuPont Highway which involved a single vehicle causing significant damage.

It appears that a Nissan Maxum was traveling on South DuPont Highway and left the roadway for unknown reasons striking some trees and street lighting devices.

One occupant was transferred to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The first responder assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
