Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

Address: John J Williams Hwy & Banks Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday evening, April 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Banks Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree with two occupants in the vehicle.

Emergency response crews included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, if necessary, and to coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a silver Ford Focus was traveling on Banks Road and failed to successfully navigate the intersection at John J. Williams Highway. The Focus continued traveling over John J. Williams Highway into a wooded area striking trees.

The occupants of the vehicle were transported to nearby medical facilities of additional evaluation by the local emergency medical service provider.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Car Hits Trees Near Oak Orchard - by Kelli Steele

Two people were taken to area hospitals Monday night after their car ran off Banks Road at Route 24 near Long Neck and hit several trees.

Emergency response crews, Delaware State Police and Sussex County paramedics got the call about the crash just after 6 o'clock.

Firemen from Indian River say the Ford Focus was driving on Banks Road and failed to successfully navigate the intersection with Route 24; the car traveled over Route 24, into a wooded area and struck some trees.

No word on the conditions of the driver or passenger; State Police are investigating.
