Nature: Structure Fire

Address: 30552 Gull Point Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday, April 11th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Gull Point Road, Millsboro.  It was reported to be a working fire involving a detached style garage.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 and #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as Engine 80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility along with Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression and incident mitigation duties and responsibilities.

It appears that an outside storage building style shed approximately 15 x 15 was ignited as a result of uncontrolled outside fire in the adjoining field.  The field quickly spread causing embers and debris to ignite the shed.  Heat from the shed fire did cause damage to the residential structure that was nearby.

The Millsboro Fire Company was able to provide fire suppression assistance during this incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
