Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 32998 Anglers Cove, Pot Nets Lakeside, Long Neck, DE 19966

On Thursday, November 11th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Anglers Cove in the Pot Nets Lakeside development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a fire in the bathroom, house filled with smoke, and possible animals inside the structure.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 and 80 Incident Command from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial scene size-up and assessment via the Incident Command, utilize an 1¾” fire suppression line through the front door and locate the source of the issue.  Positive pressure and natural ventilation methods were utilized to remove the smoke from the interior of the structure.  All other responding units were directed to perform a Level 1 stage unless cancelled altogether.  The utility services were discontinued to the residential structure during the suppression stage of the incident.

It appears that the issue was created by improper discarding of smoke materials in the bathroom area.

All units were authorized to clear the incident location after clean-up was completed.
