Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 25299 Banks Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, September 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road in the vicinity of the Long Neck facility.  It was reported to be single vehicle into a tree.

Emergency response units from Indian River Volunteer Fire Company included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Millsboro EMS Services, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic for the duration of the incident with the closure of Banks Road, patient stabilization pending arrival of the EMS and Paramedic Units, and establishment of landing zone for the incoming aviation unit.

It appears that a gold colored SUV was traveling east on Banks Road and failed to successfully navigate the curve, running off the roadway, and striking a tree.  The occupant of the vehicle suffered injuries that necessitated aviation transportation to the Christiana Hospital.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of Long Neck Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
