Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 26406 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday afternoon, August 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Legion Road and Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to involve five vehicles with one vehicle fleeing the incident and possibility of one patient in need of transport to nearby medical facilities.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Chief 80-15 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency units included the Millsboro (83) EMS unit that was returning from Beebe Medical Center.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a maroon Dodge RAM Pick-up was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and struck the rear of a maroon KIA Forte sedan causing damage to both vehicles and sandwiching the KIA.  The KIA apparently hit a white Toyota RAV4 which struck a black Jeep SUV.  It was reported that another vehicle involved fled the incident location.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
