Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Oak Orchard Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, August 20^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway west of Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with possibility of two persons needing evaluation.  Additional alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and EMS units from Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization pending arrival of EMS, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a blue Honda CRV struck the rear of a silver Jeep Wrangler while traveling east on John J. Williams Highway approaching Oak Orchard Road.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation while the other person refused any additional services.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident limiting traffic patterns along John J. Williams Highway. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
