Nature: Vehicle Fire

On Wednesday, December 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Lookout Road in the White House Beach development off of Long Neck Road.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle assessment and incident mitigation.

It appears that a 1996 Ford Windstar mini-van caught fire after the operator attempted to start the vehicle. It was identified that the fire originated in the engine compartment in the vicinity of the heater core. The owner was able to fully extinguish the fire prior to arrival of emergency response units. Engine #80-1 arrived on-scene and downgraded the response to the unit on-scene cancelling Rescue 80 and Engine #80-3.
