Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Early Saturday morning, July 31^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Long Neck Road and Pot Nets Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle accident with possibility of two patients.  Additional emergency alerts included Sussex County Paramedics, Mid Sussex Rescue Squad as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and incident mitigation.

It appears that a blue BMW 328i sedan struck a tree near the intersection of Long Neck Road and Pot Nets Road causing significant damage to the vehicle.  Both occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.  The aviation unit was cancelled while responding to the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
