On Thursday afternoon, October 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a carbon monoxide incident detection and received a second alarm within the district approximately twenty-one seconds into the previous dispatch. The vehicle accident incident was located on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Streets Road and was identified as a two vehicle collision with three possible patients that desired additional observations.

It appears that a white Cadillac sedan was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and was struck a maroon Ford Winstar mini-van also traveling east on John J. Williams Highway. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and the occupants refused medical treatment.

Emergency response crews were assigned to assist with patient stabilization, where needed; perform vehicle stabilization and debris recovery; as well as assisting with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
