Nature: IR Accepts Delivery of New Utility Truck

On Friday, September 20, 2013, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company accepted delivery of a new 2014 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4x4 4-Door Crew Cab pick-up.  This vehicle was acquired via Hertich Fleet Services of Milford, Delaware.

This vehicle could be equipped with first responder equipment for fire and emergency service response which may include traffic control and traffic enhancement functionalities (traffic signs, traffic cones, electronic arrow boards, and other equipment and devices) to ameliorate our operational efficiency while performing our primary organizational objective of fire suppression, fire prevention and incident mitigation in order to protect and save life and property.

The new truck will be identified as Utility 80-11 and will undergo additional design upgrades.. The new truck specifications include the following options:

• F-350 Super Duty package;

• 4-door crew cab;

• 4-wheel drive;

• Automatic transmission;

• Turbo diesel, 6.2 liter engine;

• 1 ton vehicle weight rating;

• Snow plow package;

• Towing package;

• Locking Differentials;

• Aluminum wheels with all terrain tires;

• Single Rear Wheels;

• Front Bucket Seats (tan in color);

• Power Seats;

• Power Windows;

• Power Towing Mirrors;

• Rear Back Bench Seats (tan in color);

• Rubber Floor Mats;

• Factory Tinted Windows;

• AM/FM/CD Radio;

• Air Conditioning;

• Chrome Front Bumpers;

• Chrome side running boards (to be installed);

• Chrome Front Grill;

• Cruise Control;

• Clearance Lights on Cab; and

• Tilt Steering Wheel.

This unit will be upgraded to include emergency response lighting; radio and telecommunication equipment for emergency response; specialized decals and graphics; and other emergency upgrades.

The truck committee was appointed by Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. and includes: Chairman James R. Wagner; Robert D. Mills; Steven C. Deery, Jr.; and Patrick C. Miller.

Indian River Fire Company Gets New Utility Truck

The Indian River Fire Company now has a new vehicle to replace an aging one.

On Friday, the fire company took delivery of a new 2014 four-door Ford F-350 Super Duty 4x4. The new truck can be used for fire and emergency calls, and can have equipment such as traffic signs and cones and an arrow board. The fire company says the new truck will help it be more effective in its mission to fight and prevent fires, and also in responding to other emergency calls to save and protect life and property.

The new truck replaces a 1999 F-250 4x4 that's currenty being used as the fire company's utility truck.
