Operator Losses Control of Vehicle Strikes Tree - John J. Williams Highway

Early Wednesday morning of July 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Herring Creek Estates. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree and unknown on injuries.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and 80 Command from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine#80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

It appear that a green Volkswagen Cabriolet was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway and lost control for an unknown reason crossing the opposite lane, crashing through fencing and striking a tree. The vehicle was occupant by a female operator of the vehicle.  

Emergency response crew assignments included to assist with patient stabilization, if needed; provide vehicle stabilization; initiate debris and fluid recovery; and provide traffic control assistance.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance as the roadway was closed for the duration of the incident.

The operator of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
